February’s monthly option expiration week has had a bullish tilt over the past 32 years. Weekly average gains fall in a range of 0.31% by S&P 500 to 0.54% by DJIA and Russell 2000. Based upon the number of positive weeks, Russell 2000 has the best track record. Since 2006, February’s monthly expiration week has become even more bullish with DJIA, S&P 500 and NASDAQ all advancing 12 times in 16 years. Russell 2000 remains the standout, up 13 of the last 16 with and average weekly gain of 1.07%. Covid has impacted the week in each of the last two years.
